my family_04

2004

Video installation with 6 TV-Monitor’s and 6 DVD players. This is an updated version of the Video Installation ”my family_02” (2002), first shown in the frame of the international Video festival viper02, 2002 in Basel/SUI

Video Installation On 6 TV-Screens and 6 DVD players.

my family_04 is an updated version of the previous installation my family_02 (2002) with newly collected material in 2004.

Video snippets from family-websites, sampled together and shown separately by categories like: birthdays, children, marriages, leisure time, festivities and pets. The categories remained unchanged to the previous version.

In contrast to the material found in 2002 – for the first version of this installation – the videos found in 2004 were longer and bigger in size. Also the search process was easier due to the increased abundance.

From the perspective of meanwhile almost 20 years, the video footage shown in this work seems to be the precursor of the SocialMedia wave.
