Photographic Series in 6 parts | Cibachrome Print on Dibond under Plexiglas | format: 100 x 100cm

The photographic series Home is the result of a thorough search in the world wide web of the year 2000, collecting so called home buttons used on websites and found in icon collections. What I found was the archetypal house of western civilization, with variations of flowers in the windows, curtains, and chimneys.

I was really surprised to find this cliche of a bourgeois dream house to be used as home icon for the world changing technology of the world wide web. – My search brought up 6 types that were used.

I transformed them into large format, analogue prints.
The blowing up of the pixel houses, using an early photoshop version, created – based on its integrated algorithm – a completely different blurred aesthetic of its own.

They are now a bit like lead fossils of the early years of the digitalization and the world wide web.

In addition I created a set of alternative home buttons, representing different stereotypical homes from other cultures, that I made available for download on my artist website then.
