Photographic Series of 4, Cibachrom on Alu Dibond, size: 128 x 85 cm

The reduction of the world into pixels and icons that circulated in the early days of the WorldWide Web in the .gif format in vast gif-collections, representing almost every item from houses for the famous home-buttons or the early trash-icon, well known from early MacIntosh computers.

In the photographic series GIFs, single elements in the images were replaced by icons found in popular icon-collections in the WWW, melting/fusing together two different kinds of representation of the real – the photographic image and a pixelated icon.
