crash #3

2021

”crash #3”, Wall Installation, plastic beads melted together / format: 477 x 306 cm

crash #3 is part of the ongoing work series crash, that I started in 2016. The other two crashes can be found here: crash #1 and crash #2

The work series crash is in some ways a continuation/extension of the ongoing series flowers (flowers I, flowers II, flowers III, flowers IV), that is based on press images of explosions deriving from wars and conflicts and that started in 2001 under the impression of 9/11.

Both work series are based on the fascination of the force and power of destruction and at the same time revealing an aesthetical force and beauty, contrasting the deadly results.

crash as well as flowers can be read also as some sort of chronicle of our times, of ongoing wars/conflicts that we have not overcome yet as well as the car that is the icon of individual transport as well as for our ruthless way to treat our planet. Both works confront with beauty and the abyss at the same time.
