The solo show darking at Molekyl Gallery, Malmö/SE, explores what is lost—both personally and collectively—when we eliminate darkness from our lives.
In ever more illuminated societies, where night is turned into day, the experience of darkness is vanishing. But without exposure to darkness—literally and metaphorically—we also lose the capacity to confront what is difficult, uncertain, or threatening. Darking is based on the idea that this denial of darkness results in a loss of resilience—a deficiency made all too clear during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The exhibition is an invitation to engage with that which lies beyond control. It explores darkness as a space of experience, of resonance, and of potential.
